Many IT managers across the UK now appreciate and understand the
major business benefits that VoIP can deliver but understandably there
still exists some concerns.
Perhaps one of the most widespread issues
is around dealing with trusted suppliers. For resellers there is a clear
opportunity here to allay these types of fears and reassure their
customers. IT decision makers within businesses must have 100 per cent
confidence in the ability of their VoIP provider and the quality of
service that they are able to provide. This means they must have
complete faith in the resilience of their provider's network and in what
it can and can't do.
Resellers should be working with VoIP
providers who run their services through an IP network which is
uncongested and 100 per cent voice ready. This way they can guarantee
their customers a high quality of service (QoS) because unlike a public
network VoIP does not have to compete with consumer applications such as
music and film downloading.
At Griffin we are working to offer as much
support to our VoIP partners as possible so in turn they are then able
to guarantee their customers a high level of service. By using a
protocol called L2TP (Layer 2 Tunneling) we can offer partners a Private
DSL which allow customers to avoid the public internet entirely. In
turn this allows users to have much more control over the application
used over broadband VPNs.
Many IT Managers are now seriously rethinking their
voice and data strategies and considering migrating their existing
services. Resellers must therefore be ready and on hand to offer advice
and reassurances around fears particularly those around dealing with
trusted suppliers and getting quality of service.
