Penalties, as the England football team know to their cost, are not an easy thing but last week the Griffin Internet 5 aside team readdressed the balance as they became champions of the Imtech Telecom Football Tournament, Twelve teams from the IT industry competed in the tournament including Easynet, NTL , Telewest and Telstra raising a large amount of money for charity in the process.
Griffin Internet overcame the opposition reaching the final against Telstra and winning on penalties. The final score was 4-3 with Account Manager Rob Stevens and Partner Manager Trevor Dennehy scoring two goals a piece. The Griffin team were awarded the Championship trophy, which they will need to defend in the winter season. Imtech Telecom donated £1000 to Griffin’s nominated charity, the Multiple Sclerosis Therapy Centre in Nottingham.
Captain Robert Stevens commented: “It was a splendid effort by the team. I was encouraged by the team spirit, as we pulled together and displayed a high level of determination to overcome tough competition. The four hour round trip was well worth it to be able to win a £1000 donation to our charity.”
