IP Transit
IP Transit is a service that is traditionally used by Global Internet Service Providers (ISPs), Internet content providers and hosting companies however it is more frequently being used by large corporate businesses.
IP transit is an Internet access service; buying your network access to a collection of IP networks around the world collectively known as the Internet!
Griffin IP Transit
Griffin specialises in providing flexible and scalable IP transit. We peer directly with major UK, European and Global ISPs and Content Providers via our
peering connections at LINX, MaNAP and XchangePoint.
In addition to providing IP Transit to customers located in the locations listed, you can also 'collect' bandwidth from us via
a leased line. This is a cost effective way of providing high bandwidth Internet access to your premises. For example if you take a 2Mbit/s leased line from us or a 10Mbit/s LAN extension circuit from BT into one of our PoPs, you would only pay for the bandwidth that you actually use, whilst having instant access to full 2Mbit/s or 10Mbit/s should you require it. Most ISPs that provide leased lines charge you for using the full line capacity, whether you use it or not.
We offer two different charging models, recognising the differing needs of our customers. Whichever charging model you choose, you benefit from the same reliable, mature and scalable network.
Features
- Flexible and scalable network
- Choice of charging models
- Multiple peering options
Charging Models
You choose an amount of bandwidth with guaranteed availability. This is your Committed Data Rate (CDR). You can choose any CDR as long as it is a multiple of 256Kbit/s. You pay monthly in advance for your CDR at a competitive rate. You can burst beyond your CDR, up to the port size or preset limit. You pay for the amount you burst beyond your CDR at a rate 30% higher than your CDR rate. Ideal for small ISPs/hosting companies/leased line customers.
You choose a 10Mbit/s, 100Mbit/s or 1Gbit/s port on Griffin network. You pay a monthly fee for the rental of the port. You do not have to choose a CDR, you only pay for what you use. You are charged based on the 95th percentile of your monthly usage. You get charged for incoming or outgoing whichever is highest. Ideal for rapidly growing ISPs or hosting companies.
